SPORTS DIGEST 🏆

Shrewsbury Town Football Club

In Shrewsbury Town's latest match, they faced a tough defeat to Walsall in the EFL Trophy on November 12, losing 3-0.

Shrewsbury struggled to make an impact despite a few attempts to break through Walsall's defense.

They currently sit bottom of League One, with 8 points and a goal difference of -14. Their last result came over a month ago in their match against Crawley Town.

There has been big news this week with the appointment of Gareth Ainsworth as their new manager, following the dismissal of Paul Hurst.

Ainsworth, who previously spent over a decade at Wycombe Wanderers, brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the struggling League One side.

His management career includes over 150 games in the league, and he has also managed QPR in the Championship.

The Shrewsbury board expressed their confidence in Ainsworth, seeing his experience and leadership qualities as key to turning the club’s fortunes around, especially with the team currently sitting at the bottom of the league.

Ainsworth is known for his attacking style of play and high-pressing. Fans are hoping this will translate into more goals for Shrewsbury, and in turn, wins.

Looking ahead, the team will return to league action on November 23 against Birmingham City, with a 12:30 pm kick-off.

Birmingham City sit second in the table and hold the League One transfer record having poached striker Jay Stansfield from Fulham in the summer.
