CHRISTMAS FAIRS 🎄
Made on the Borders: Homemade Christmas Festival
📅 Date: Saturday, November 30th, 2024
⏰ Time: From 9:00 AM
📍 Venue: British Ironwork Centre, SY11 4JH
Head to the British Ironwork Centre for a festive celebration of all things handmade at the Homemade Christmas Festival. Browse stalls from local artisans, crafters, and makers—featuring everything from knitted goods to handcrafted jewellery, artwork, and much more.
Entry is £5 per adult, which includes access to all the centre’s facilities.
Joy of Christmas Fair
📅 Date: Sunday, December 1st, 2024
⏰ Time: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
📍 Venue: Shrewsbury School Quod
Join in the festive fun at the Joy of Christmas Fair, where you’ll find unique handmade gifts from local artisans, live music, delicious food, and a special visit from Father Christmas. All proceeds from this joyful event will benefit Shrewsbury Foodbank Plus.
Admission is £5, which includes a mince pie and mulled wine. Children can attend for free!
Condover Christmas Fair
📅 Date: Sunday, December 1st, 2024
⏰ Time: 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM
📍 Venue: Condover Hall
Head to Condover Hall for a festive day out at the Condover Christmas Fair. Browse a fantastic array of stalls featuring unique gifts, enjoy tasty food from local vendors, and be entertained by live music from the talented Got2sing choir. A perfect way to kick off the holiday season!

Meet Father Christmas at Shrewsbury Museum
📅 Date: Saturday 30th November & Sunday 1st December

📍 Venue: Shrewsbury Museum

Visit Father Christmas in his magical museum workshop, where elves will guide you through historic halls to meet him and receive a gift. Enjoy festive crafts, explore the galleries, and shop for special gifts in the museum store.
Tickets are £15 per child (ages 1–17, free for under ones) and £5 per accompanying adult. All details are on the Shropshire Museums site. There are still slots available for both Saturday and Sunday!

Shrewsbury Christmas Jumper Run

Get into the festive spirit with the Severn Hospice Christmas Jumper Run, a fun and inclusive event for the whole family. Choose from 2.5K, 5K, or 10K routes, with optional chip timing.
Don your best Christmas jumper and help raise funds for the Severn Hospice — every step makes a difference!
Creative Therapy Workshop

Shrewsbury International Piano Recital: Axel Trolese

The first of two international piano recitals this season at St Alkmund's, featuring Italian pianist Axel Trolese. Sponsored by the Keyboard Charitable Trust and the Robert Turnbull Piano Foundation, this recital supports young international pianists at the start of their professional careers.
This event is free to attend, with donations welcomed to cover heating and travel costs for the artists. Any surplus funds will support further musical activities in the church.

This week’s photo captures the festive magic of Shrewsbury's Christmas Lights switch-on, held on Wednesday, November 20th. The event kicked off at 4:30 pm with family-friendly entertainment in The Square, leading up to the highly anticipated countdown at 6:30 pm.
With Santa’s sleigh on Pride Hill, Shrewdolph the giant reindeer, and live music performances, the event truly kicked off the season of celebration in Shrewsbury.

SPORTS DIGEST 🏆
Shrewsbury Town Football Club
Over the weekend, Shrewsbury Town marked Gareth Ainsworth's first match in charge with a thrilling 3-2 home victory over Birmingham City.
This has lifted Shrewsbury Town off the bottom of the table. They now sit 23rd in League One with 11 points.
Ainsworth will be looking to continue his victorious run and get Shrewsbury out of the relegation zone.
The game yesterday saw Shrewsbury take control early on with goals from Aaron Pierre and John Marquis, followed by a third from Tom Bloxham.
Despite Birmingham pulling one back and a penalty from Jay Stansfield, the hosts held strong to secure the three points.
Birmingham were second in the league going into the game, showing how much of an impressive result this was.
Shrewsbury host Blackpool at Croud Meadow this Wednesday, with kick-off at 7:45pm. They then travel down to Cambridge United on Saturday.
