SPORTS DIGEST 🏆
Shrewsbury Town Football Club
Shrewsbury Town endured a tough defeat against relegation rivals Cambridge United yesterday, losing 4-1 after conceding early in both halves.
Cambridge took the lead in the first minute when Shrewsbury goalkeeper Toby Savin spilled a cross from Elias Kachunga, allowing Shayne Lavery to score. Lavery doubled the lead on the half-hour mark after a quick counterattack.
In the second half, Shrewsbury struggled to deal with a cross from Kell Watts, allowing Dan Nlundulu to score within the first minute. Nlundulu then set up Kachunga for the fourth goal just after the hour mark.
Shrewsbury managed to pull one back through John Marquis' penalty after George Lloyd was fouled in the box, but the damage had already been done.
The result leaves Shrewsbury eight points adrift of safety, with their relegation battle intensifying.
Their next game on 14th December will be a tough one, as they face Wycombe who sit top of the table with almost four times as many points as Shrewsbury.
