QUESTION OF THE WEEK 🗣️
As we continue to experience the cold and frosty weather in Shrewsbury, we’d love to know:

SPORTS DIGEST 🏆
Shrewsbury Town Football Club ⚽
Weather Woes Postpone Huddersfield Clash
Shrewsbury Town’s weekend fixture against Huddersfield was postponed due to freezing weather and a frozen pitch, as bitterly cold conditions disrupted the sporting calendar across the UK. Numerous FA Cup and league games also fell victim to the icy weather. Shrewsbury will look ahead to Thursday, January 16th, when they host local rivals Wrexham at 8 PM in what promises to be a heated clash despite the chilly temperatures.
Sagoe Jr. Loan Ends as Shrewsbury Eye Survival
Shrewsbury Town have confirmed the early return of Arsenal loanee Charles Sagoe Jr. to his parent club. The 20-year-old winger struggled for game time, making only five league starts since joining in August.
Under new manager Gareth Ainsworth, Shrewsbury have seen glimpses of improvement, including an unbeaten festive run that brought six points from three games. However, a recent loss to Leyton Orient has left them eight points adrift of safety. Fans will be hoping the Wrexham game sparks a revival as the team battles to climb the League One table.
Shrewsbury Town Women in Action
Shrewsbury Town Women take on Kidderminster Harriers today, January 12th, with a 2 PM kickoff at the Community Pitch (SY2 6ST). Fans are encouraged to come down and support the team, with tickets priced at £4 for adults, £2 for concessions, and free entry for under-12s.
Best of luck to the team — By the time the newsletter goes out, we may already know the result.
Shrewsbury Hockey Club 🏑
Shrewsbury Hockey Club: Weekend Fixtures
Due to the cold weather, all hockey matches scheduled for Saturday, January 11th, were either postponed or cancelled, including league and tournament fixtures.
However, there are two games taking place today, Sunday, January 12th:
Shrewsbury Men’s 2nd vs. Leek 4S (League)
Shrewsbury Men’s Masters Over 45’s vs. Deeside Ramblers (Cup)
Good luck to both teams!
