SPORTS DIGEST ๐
Shrewsbury Town Football Club โฝ
Shrewsbury Townโs relegation battle in League One took a further blow on 15 March 2025, as they were defeated 2-0 at home by Burton Albion.
The match remained goalless at the break, but Burton broke the deadlock with two goals in the final 18 minutes. Rumarn Burrell opened the scoring in the 72nd minute with a header from a corner, before Terence Vancooten sealed the win for the visitors with a close-range finish in the 86th minute.
Shrewsbury had several chances, including a powerful shot from Dom Gape that went wide, and Jordan Shipleyโs effort from distance that sailed over.
However, Burton made the most of their opportunities, and with Shrewsbury unable to find the back of the net, the defeat leaves them still at the foot of the table with just 28 points, now eight points adrift of safety.
Their next match is away at Birmingham City, who sit comfortably top of the table, on Saturday 29th March at 3pm.
Shrewsbury Town Women donโt have a match this weekend. Their next game is against Port Vale in a weeks time at 2pm.
Shrewsbury Hockey Club ๐
On Saturday, 22 March, Shrewsbury Hockey Club has a busy day with multiple matches across various divisions. The Menโs 4th team faces Telford & Wrekin in Division 9 North West, while the Womenโs teams play in Division 3, 4, and 5 North West.
The Menโs 1st team takes on Olton & West Warwickshire in Division 4 West, and the 5th team faces Telford & Wrekin in Division 10 North West. Youth teams will also compete in the Shropshire CVL at Wrekin College, with both U12 Boys and Girls teams in action.
On Sunday, 23 March, the club will hold training sessions for the U10s and U8s, and the Menโs Masters Over 45s will play a cup match against Sheffield University Bankers.
