Paws CafΓ© to Close in June
After nearly a decade of cosy cuppas and cat cuddles, Shrewsburyβs beloved Paws CafΓ© will be closing on 1st June. Owners K&J shared that the decision was made to prioritise family life and wellbeing following the loss of their cat, Lady Grey.
The cafΓ© has been a gentle and joyful presence in town, offering a unique space to relax alongside its furry residents. Until closing day, theyβll remain open as usual, with a sale on their online shop for keepsakes. Voucher holders can still book via pawscafe.co.uk. The cats, theyβve confirmed, will stay with the family.

Last yearβs event brought a 36% boost to town centre footfall, a sign of its growing impact. With support from Arts Council England, Loopfest is reinvesting in the music community and spotlighting grassroots talent. Many shows are free, with wristbands available for premium access at loopfest.co.uk.

SPORTS DIGEST π
Shrewsbury Town Football Club β½
Narrow Home Defeat for the Shrews
It was a frustrating afternoon for Shrewsbury Town at the Croud Meadow on Saturday 5th April, as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to relegation rivals Cambridge United.
Despite a hard-fought performance, Shrewsbury couldnβt find a breakthrough, with substitute Luca Hoole coming closest midway through the second half. His effort was scrambled wide following a sharp save by Cambridge keeper Jack Stevens.
The visitors capitalised on a loose ball in the 75th minute, with Dom Ballard, on loan from Southampton, calmly slotting past Jamal Blackman to seal the win. Shrewsbury pushed for a late equaliser, and Hoole again found space in the box, but his header drifted over the bar.
It was a disappointing result for Michael Appleton's side, who remain at the bottom of the League One table.
Shrewsbury Town Women
The Shrewsbury Town Womenβs team were in action today (6th April) as they made the trip to face Shifnal Town at the Acoustafoam Stadium.
Kicking off at 2pm, the fixture is part of their continued push in the league.
