Severn Hospice’s After-Hours Shopping Event Hits the Right Note

Severn Hospice’s Superstore in Castlefields, Shrewsbury, is celebrating the launch of its new Outlet section with an after-hours shopping event on Thursday 17 April, from 3pm to 7pm.

Expect rails of stylish pre-loved fashion at outlet prices, live music from local talent including Paul Henshaw and students from Voice Box Classes, plus refreshments and cake. The event is free, fully accessible, and even dog-friendl, making it a relaxed and fun way to support a local charity doing great work.

Michelin-Starred Pub Pie Lands on Local Menus

Marston’s has teamed up with Michelin-starred chef Tom Shepherd to bring The Best Ever Pub Pie to over 100 pubs, including 18 in the West Midlands, starting 17 April for 12 weeks.

The pie, based on Shepherd’s hit from Great British Menu, features beef cheek, caramelised onions, and roast potatoes in a beef fat shortcrust pastry, served with mash, veg, and red wine sauce. It’s pub comfort food, elevated but with all the flavour of a fine-dining dish, right down the road.

SPORTS DIGEST 🏆

Shrewsbury Town Football Club ⚽

Shrewsbury Town kept their League One survival hopes alive with a gutsy 1–1 draw away at Lincoln City. It was a high-pressure game, one that could have sealed their relegation had things gone differently.

After falling behind to a fourth-minute goal from a familiar face, former Shrews player Tom Bayliss, Town showed real character. Aaron Pierre found the equaliser just before the half-hour mark, tucking in a deflected effort after a goalmouth scramble.

Although there were chances to take all three points, including efforts from John Marquis and Dominic Gape, the draw proved enough, especially with Bristol Rovers losing on the same day. It wasn’t pretty, but it was vital.

Shrewsbury Town Women

Meanwhile, the women’s team were on the road facing Burton Albion in league competition. With a 3pm kickoff at the Pirelli Stadium, supporters were encouraged to come along and back the squad, with free entry making it even more accessible. By the time this newsletter reaches readers, the outcome of the match will already be known.
