BELLE VUE ARTS FESTIVAL 🎨
The Belle Vue Arts Festival kicks off this month with an exciting programme celebrating 'movement' through art, community, and creativity. The festival launches with Let's Celebrate on Saturday 7 June (11am-3pm) at Greyfriars Bridge, a free family event featuring live music, themed stalls, drop-in art activities, toy trains, and rowing machines. Local groups including Shropshire Ramblers and Pengwern Boat Club will showcase different forms of movement.
Several affordable workshops offer hands-on experiences throughout the opening week. The new Impressions of Movement workshop (Saturday 7 June, 6-8pm) lets participants create Impressionist paintings inspired by Shrewsbury views for just £10, with materials and refreshments included. A drumming workshop teaches African djembe rhythms for £5, while Poetry in Motion (Wednesday 11 June, 7.30pm) celebrates movement through verse and music with special guests Jean Atkin and Liz Lefroy - £5 for adults, free for under-16s.

Free events include children's drop-in art sessions on Saturday 8 June (1-3pm) focusing on 'treasure', and an Open Day at Longden Road Cemetery (Sunday 8 June, 7pm) featuring storytelling walks and nature activities with the Friends of Shrewsbury Cemeteries.
The festival's most popular event, Open Gardens, returns on Sunday 22 June (10.30am-4.30pm), opening private Belle Vue and Coleham gardens to the public. For £5 per adult (children free), visitors can explore diverse gardens featuring artwork, live music, and even rickshaw transport between locations.
