BELLE VUE ARTS FESTIVAL 🎨

The Belle Vue Arts Festival burst into life yesterday in Shrewsbury, launching two exciting weeks celebrating 'movement' through art and community. The opening Let's Celebrate event at Greyfriars Bridge welcomed families with live music, art activities, and themed stalls.

The week ahead offers something for everyone - yoga sessions, pub quizzes, scavenger hunts, and exhibitions. Today's free children's art sessions quickly sold out, while storytelling walks at Longden Road Cemetery provided a unique blend of history and nature.

The festival's highlight comes on June 22 with Open Gardens, when Belle Vue and Coleham's private gardens open to the public. Visitors can explore diverse spaces featuring artwork, live music, and even rickshaw transport between locations. Find the full festival programme here.

Sabrina Boat Marks Golden Anniversary

The iconic Sabrina Boat celebrates 50 years on the River Severn this year.

When Dilwyn Jones discovered the business for sale online in 2010, he saw potential that would transform Shrewsbury's river tourism.

The business now includes a smaller Picnic Boat for intimate gatherings and guided historic town tours, with an exciting river taxi service launching at the Showground in 2025.

The boat has become so beloved it's now referred to as a local landmark by residents.

Slimming World Street Food Cook Book

Slimming World offers free street food recipe book with 6 or 12-week commitments until 14th June. Groups meet at Emmanuel Church, Mount Pleasant Road (Wed 5.30pm, Thu 9am) and Greenfields Bowling Club, Falstaff Street (Sat 8am & 9.30am). Contact Vicky via the details on the poster for more info.
