Featured: Shrewsbury Comedy Festival

The Shrewsbury International Comedy Festival is back for another blockbuster week of live comedy from 9-13 July, with performances across multiple venues throughout town. The five-day festival culminates with the star-studded Gala Show on Sunday 13 July at Theatre Severn, featuring MC Scott Bennett, viral sensation Abandoman, Tez Ilyas, QI regular Cally Beaton, and 1930s throwback Troy Hawke.

Individual shows with tickets still available include Ignacio Lopez, Mrs Smith, Stella Graham, and Terry Christian's 30th anniversary tour of The Word at St Mary's. Comedy Tapas nights offer multiple acts in one evening, while Political Brunch sessions provide daytime entertainment.

Dave Chawner brings his Mental show, Tony Law performs at Henry Tudor Inn, and rising star Josh Jones presents his Work in Progress. The festival showcases both established names and emerging talent across intimate venues, making it one of the region's premier comedy events. Shrewsbury Food Festival

Shrewsbury Food Festival returns with two days of culinary celebration, showcasing around 200 independent stalls offering everything from artisan food and drink to homeware and garden goods. Shrewsbury Abbey plays host to a live recording of BBC Radio 4’s Any Questions?, with presenter Alex Forsyth. Attendees can submit written questions on current issues, with selected topics debated by the panel during the live broadcast at 8:00 PM. Entry is free but ticketed.

Shrewsbury Food Festival Offers Prison Visit Bonus

Shrewsbury Food Festival has partnered with Shrewsbury Prison to offer Sunday ticket holders (29 June) a free prison visit voucher for 2025. The award-winning festival, crowned 'Festival of the Year' at West Midlands Tourism Awards for two consecutive years, takes place in the Quarry on 28-29 June.

Around 180 exhibitors will showcase local food and drink alongside live music, chef demonstrations, and free family activities. Great British Bake Off finalist Christiaan de Vries joins top chefs on the demo stages, while local producers lead sessions on the new Monks Teach and Taste Stage. Sunday visitors can also order Adam Purnell's Fire Roasted Beef Sarnie, made from Dexter Beef roasted over wood fire for 24 hours.

Beth Heath from Shropshire Festivals said the partnership provides "two great days out for the price of one," adding that this year's festival feels "bigger, better and fresher than ever." Tickets at shrewsburyfoodfestival.co.uk.

New Opening: Dill Brings Mediterranean Flavours to Shrewsbury

Exciting news for Shrewsbury's food scene! Dill is one of the town's newest culinary destinations with Mediterranean-inspired tapas and a sun-soaked garden boasting amazing views.

New Exhibition: 'FLIGHT' at Gateway Gallery

The Gateway Gallery is currently hosting 'FLIGHT', a collaborative exhibition bringing together local artists and workshop participants from Shropshire Supports Refugees.

The show features photography, oil portraits, and abstract works creating a meaningful dialogue through art. There's a celebration event during Refugee Week on Thursday 19th June from 5-6pm.
