A Thing That Walks Again Exhibition
We attended Thursday's private view of Robert's exhibition A Thing That Walks Again at Swan Hill Studios, where intriguing discussions emerged around his paintings and aphantasia. The exhibition is now open Monday to Friday, 10am-3pm, and by appointment - well worth a visit.
Bouncers Returns for Autumn Performances
Following a successful summer run, Shropshire Drama Company are bringing back John Godber's comedy classic Bouncers for two autumn shows: The Edge Arts Centre, Much Wenlock on Friday 14 November, and The Buttermarket, Shrewsbury on Wednesday 19 November.
Set in a 1980s nightclub, the fast-paced comedy follows four bouncers who transform into every character they encounter during a wild night out. Expect shoulder pads, leg warmers, and brilliant 80s pop. Tickets at shropshiredramacompany.co.uk.
Open Door Cinema Club - The Fly
Open Door Cinema Club continues their Horror at the Hive season tonight with Cronenberg's The Fly. After last week's successful launch, Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis star in this unforgettable body-horror classic. Arrive early for the Origami Raffle and horror quiz.
Cult favourites like The Thing, The Lost Boys, and Midsommar follow throughout October and November.
The Salopian Open - Prize Details
Gateway Gallery's Salopian Open just got even better. Frame It are sponsoring five prize categories: first prize includes a solo exhibition plus £200 framing voucher, alongside Most Innovative, Best Local, People's Choice, and The One to Watch awards.
Selected works will be displayed throughout November and December - perfect timing for Christmas sales. Deadline is 31st October.
Phil Nichol Launches Comedy Series at Albert's Shed
Shire Events, organisers of Shrewsbury International Comedy Festival, are bringing regular touring comedy to Albert's Shed. First up is award-winning comedian Phil Nichol with Trying My Best on Wednesday 12 November.
Described as 'riotously funny' by the Sunday Telegraph, Nichol is known for explosive improvisation and surreal performances that have earned him six Chortle Award nominations.
A regular Edinburgh Fringe performer and TV favourite (The Graham Norton Show, Never Mind the Buzzcocks), he's the perfect launch for this new comedy series. Tickets at ticketsource.co.uk/shireevents.
